Mrs Chauhan is the Performing Arts Subject Leader at The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School. Performing Arts is part of our Arts Faculty which is led by Mrs Morris.
At The Blessed Sacrament, we have a commitment to arts education, providing our pupils with the opportunity to learn about and participate in art, music and dance, but also providing them with the platform from which to be creative, to express themselves, find success and share these experiences, talents and abilities. Drama and spoken word are taught as part of our English curriculum as well as through cross-curricular links. In addition, children perform in class assemblies and productions throughout the year. Dance is taught as part of the PE curriculum and we also provide extra-curricular dance clubs. During themed days and International Weeks, the children have enjoyed a range of activities to give them a taste for performing arts. In the past they have experienced African drumming, Zumba, Bollywood dancing and Chinese dragon dancing. We endeavour to facilitate our pupils with the opportunity to observe and appreciate the arts through live performances, this includes visits to watch theatre productions, pantomimes and inviting performers into school.
