Admissions

Miss Lyndsey Newsham is our admissions officer in school.  All enquiries for places (September Reception, or mid year for other age groups) are dealt with by Miss Newsham or Mrs Stables.

Our school is very popular but we do currently have limited places available.

The school's Admissions Policy is below and will help parents and carers find out about what to do if they would like a place.  Within the policy, are the admission arrangements and oversubscription criteria as well as the supplementary information form which we require in addition to the County Council form.

September 2024

Children are not legally required to start school until the term following their fifth birthday. In Lancashire, however, all children who have their 5th birthday between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025 may start school in September 2024 if their parents / carers wish it.

Applications for primary & secondary school places for 2024 will open on Friday 1st September 2023.  Please click this link for more information  www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools

The closing dates for Primary applications for September 2024 is 15th January 2024 @ 11-59 pm.

The Closing date for Secondary applications for September 2024 is 31 October 2023 @ 11:59pm

Secondary offers confirmed on 1st March 2024 electronically.

Primary offers confirmed in April 2024 electronically

CONFIRMATION OF PRIMARY OFFERS

For September 2024 offers will be confirmed online only for all those who apply on Lancashire's online system (this was around 95% of applicants the previous year). For those who do not receive a first preference offer, links to reserve list and appeal forms will be available.

Lancashire's online system will go live on the morning when places are released (17th April 2024) and will allow online applicants to view their school offer. Please be patient as around 13,000 applicants may be trying to access information.

IMPORTANT

Please return the supplementary form to the school of your choice (if applicable) & ensure you apply online too.

On our Open Afternoon & Evening we invite prospective parents to come & have a look around school.  This is usually held in October (more details nearer the time).  There is no need to book an appointment; just come along at either 2:00 pm or 5.30 pm.  We look forward to meeting you.

In-Year Admissions

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places. An application should be made to the school by completing the in-year admissions application form and returning to the school office or via email to bursar@blessedsacrament.lancs.sch.uk. If applying on faith grounds please also complete and return the supplementary form.

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements, will be applied.

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list. You will be advised of the outcome of your application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful. Details of which can be found at Appeal against an admission decision - Lancashire County Council

If parents and carers have any queries about admissions, or appeals, they should contact Miss Newsham in the main school office (01772 792572) or email bursar@blessedsacrament.lancs.sch.uk. You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with the local authority Pupil Access Team who can be contacted on 01772 532109 or IYASouth@lancashire.gov.uk
